A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Overall, so far, Mito seems very good, promising. Only been a couple times for lunch take-out so far and have gotten just basic maki rolls, prices are similar to other restaurants of its kind in the area. Employees have been friendly and the place has a nice vibe. The rolls (a salmon roll, eel avocado roll, spicy tuna roll and California roll) were good - rice was cooked perfect and portioned appropriately in each roll. One thing though I had issue with was the spicy tuna roll, perhaps it is a style I'm unfamiliar with, but it seemed to be mostly mayo in the spicy tuna mixture. Compared to the spicy tuna rolls I've gotten in Spencer or Holden, this particular roll did not match what I've come to know. I will try it again since the other rolls were perfectly made, perhaps there was some miscommunication. So 3 out of 4 rolls made me happy - 8 stars at the moment. Mito seems very good at the moment and I will try again as my wallet permits. Edit: Giving 5 stars overall instead of 4 to help buffer against undeserved 1's by people ordering chicken fingers lol."
"We stopped in for a drink right before they closed. Kim the owner was so nice and allowed us in. What an amazing space to be added to rutland! Highly recommended. I can’t wait to try the food"
"Sushi was good as was service however I don't believe it is legal to charge a surcharge for using a credit card in MA, Massachusetts General Laws chapter 140D, section 28A(2) provides: (2) No seller in any sales transaction may impose a surcharge on a cardholder who elects to use a credit card in lieu of payment by cash, check or similar means."
"Nice addition to Rutland’s food options! The sushi was freshly rolled on-demand. The egg-rolls were the best we’ve had in a long time. Super flaky and delicious! The entrees were reasonably priced for the amount of food. Would probably want a larger side fried rice with the entree (amount of white rice was good for that entree). Waitress was very friendly and helpful! Note: they are still waiting on an alcohol license from the Town, but that’s small town stuff, not their fault."
"Everything was so good and the ambience is so beautiful. This is exactly what we needed in Rutland. Food was 10/10 and every restaurant is unique in their own way. Absolutely would recommend to everyone to stop by and give it a try! I will say there is a 3% charge if you use card so cash is definitely preferred! Other than that everything is wonderful!"
"Everyone said they were not impressed. Best General Gaos chicken I’ve had, hot, crispy, sauce is the perfect blend. Service is good! Been there twice, two great meals!!"
"First experience dining at Mito. For starters, drinks where perfect, we didn't order appetizers this time, but this will not be our last time coming here for dinner. We ordered from the Japanese menu, and had the regular 7pc assorted sushi, which came with miso soup, and salad. Both were very good, especially the ginger dressing on the salad. Our other meal was the Hibachi Steak, which came with milo soup, and fried rice. The steak was cooked just as ordered. The service was excellent, promp, and very friendly. Having read all reviews prior to going, I have to agree with almost all of them. The not so favorable reviews I read, honestly, couldn't agree with with my experience. Will definitely be coming back, and suggesting to other, if they haven't yet, give it a try. Thumbs up."
"My husband and I are so excited that Rutland finally has a restaurant again! The place is open until 10, which is awesome. The food is very good as well. The sashimi did not seem as high quality as I've had in the past, but the rolls are great. Maybe considering having more speciality rolls without the mayonaise?? I'm not a huge mayo fan and a lot of the options are mayo-based. But whatever - I can find something good on this menu. The noodles and hibachi are also great. My one big complaint is that there are 2 huge TVs in the bar area that DO NOT PLAY SPORTS???!?!!?!?! What?? It's a rural town in Central Mass. What else are we gonna show?? We're not trying to be fancy people here. This isn't some swanky jazz bar in Cambridge lol. We want to quietly watch the Bruins or Red Sox. I'm not asking for a sports bar, in fact, I don't want a sports bar, but when I'm trying to eat dinner and the doom and gloom local news is on, telling me about a family of 5 who died in a house fire, or god forbid politics, I'm going to get out of there as soon as possible. Once we went in there and they were playing kids cartoons or something. Kind of off putting. If there's a game on - you can bet my husband and I will stay for a while, getting more and more apps and sushi rolls as we go! Put it on mute! We don't need sound! We just want live sports. The couple of times we've tried to ask about watching a game, the owner gives us the remote to figure it out ourselves (I don't have a TV, so don't know how they work - that's why I go out to bars to watch games!) and after several frustrating minutes I came to the conclusion that they don't actually have access to live sports. It should definitely be something they consider getting. Again, simply playing sports at a bar does not encourage rowdy behavior or brawls out in the parking lot. It's literally the most neutral thing you could put on the TV. Give me my local sports and I will be in there triple the amount of times already. We plan our nights out at Mito around the Bruins schedule so we go on a night they are NOT playing. Everything else is great. We love Kelly! Thanks!"
